From Photography to Story Art

Photographic Art Compositing involves combining multiple photographs along with other digital content and Photoshop effects to create a unique piece of digital art that is only limited by your imagination. Our goal is to unleash your creativity by introducing you to the skills and tools required to create stunning fine art composites that tells a story. 

THE PROGRAM

The Basics of Photographic Art Compositing workshop is a 5 week (one day per week) journey through the basics of compositing in a program developed by the internationally award winning Australian photographer & digital artist, Karen Alsop and delivered by her authorised Story Art tutors.

Each of the 5 sessions is a combination of Story Art videos developed by Karen followed by practical exercises facilitated by your tutor. Participants will also have access to Photoshop tutorials,  advanced compositing techniques and various digital tools to enhance your compositing journey as part of your membership with Story Art Education.

  • Photographing your subjects & using a green screen
  • Selecting additional digital elements to include in your image

  • Adding digital effects to your image
  • Adding Atmosphere – rain, smoke & snow
  • Finishing Touches
  • Completing your image in Lightroom

Photographic Art Compositing 5 Day Workshop – $625

Story Art Education Membership – required

In addition to the workshop fee, you will also need to organise  an annual or lifetime membership to Karen Alsop’s – Story Art Education web page in order to have access to the various video tutorials and digital compositing tools that includes Photoshop Brushes, Textures and overlays.

PREREQUISITES
It’s essential that you have a basic understanding of Photoshop and how to use layers and brushes. It may be worthwhile attending our Photoshop for Lightroom Users workshop prior to starting you Compositing journey.

STUDENT LIMIT
Class size will be between 4-6 students. We limit our class sizes to create a more individual learning environment.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

The requirements of what to bring will change each week, but each week you will require your laptop with a version of Lightroom & Photoshop. Some weeks you will also require your camera. It is highly recommend that at the very least you bring a mouse for use with your Laptop as editing with Photoshop on a mouse pad is quite challenging. We do recommend using a Wacom Tablet in your compositing efforts and we will be covering how to use the tablet in the workshop.
